Three feet from Gold

Generation gaps, not only in positive but also in negative aspect. People living in this world are chasing behind something and are not realizing the precious value of life. It is important to fulfill our basic necessities, but to have too much on our plate can spill too.

In my life, I haven’t seen my grandmother… But maternal grandmother… yes! She made me cognizant of ‘How beautiful the life is…’

One day, I got exposure to the memories of grandmother… gasped , ’What a magnificent beauty!’

With her every portrait, she had a story to be cherished about the golden era.Where they lived in a joint family… there was no TV…only radio as means of communication. She got married in her teens…marriage was maybe legal…My maternal grandfather went asleep in heaven, in his early stages of life but growing up in the joint family never made her miss anything in life. She was always blissful and enjoyed every moment of life, while nurturing her seven children in the family which wasn’t easy; but still she was always vim and vigor to life.

During the golden era, there were many different beliefs made for every aspects, but still everything around made her always happy. She saw her children, grandchildren growing and getting married in very well families.

She always filled our pockets with pamper. Being the younger daughter of the family, I was always pampered by my uncles and aunts. Admiring, playing around, gossiping, shopping and showing her things significantly, ’ This is for you; take it from your mother when you grow up.’

The love in her eyes… still can’t be forgotten… She had tasted different flavors of life and would always say, ‘Variety is the spice of life.’ She was keen of watching me getting married and luckily, saw the little angel too. She almost saw 3 generations growing. She had never made us realize she was on an hour of death.  She was a queen from heart and by her thoughts…

[Present] Newsflashes…. 17.5% of Youth committed suicide in 2018.

Is it that easy?? One failure in life… being on 2nd position, not coming first … 0.2% difference…falling off from the buildings … Is it the overthinking ,the nurturing of the child or we forgot to tell them what failure is?

Recalling, grandma’s golden charm…And the last gift ‘I have’ as her memory.
In front of mirror; ’The royal gold embroidered shawl’ on my shoulders made me; recall the precious teachings by her… ‘There will be failures in life, but the word ‘failure’ is the beginning of success which is just three feet from gold.
