The Golden Cage

Car drive , sudden plan of a trip… Surprise test… was happy to clear the exam.
Beginning a new chapter of life…
Instructions
Have to share room with girls and take care of all your belongings on your own .

Looking at younger girls, Felt responsible…

In the room… no air conditioner … only a water cooler at a distance from bed.
In the corner, my new roommate, first friend (Bestie now) in the new school.

The night was resilient with the kisses of mosquitoes.

Early in the morning, an announcement … wake up alarm, realizing the value of time…4:30 am.

Stempede , ‘Oh no! What is it about?’
Roomie replied, ‘It’s for exercise, after that we have to get ready for school.’ Sooner, ready for my first run up, time to see the sunrise, feel the fresh air… everything around was so welcoming.

Time was running out. Came back and got ready for school.

Astonished… A hall full of teachers and students for the breakfast.
Everyone had friends, but I was sitting alone in the corner and then someone joined in, with the boiled eggs in the plate… smell…couldn’t resist felt like puking
Was not supposed to waste breakfast so willy- nilly had to finish everything on plate.

After a small walk, we headed over to school.
In the class… 25 students….
Meeting new classmates and the teachers was first-rate. Really liked my class teacher from day one. With the ocean of her knowledge , was able to grab bits of shells. Prayers before and after every meal… different sports activities, various new languages, knowledge of musical instruments, choir singing ,forms of dance… made me an enthusiastic learner.

Slam bang of mentorsFor lunch

‘Everyone in the queue’ were supposed to move out of the class. In third block of the corridor , neither one step left nor right. Confirming with our hankies to the mentor. In the same hall, moving in a queue… was quite longer as compared to morning.

In the middle of afternoon…Got tired and sleepy. Many of my classmates slept with head down on the table.
Felt difficult but managed a nap in the class.

Got some refreshments and realized how hectic the school … was…

5:00 pm school got over and sunset … Took me back to the room, felt like in a golden cage. Locked up in the room. With lots of rules to be remembered.
Relinquishing, wrote my first letter to my parents.
Tired half asleep…
The night gasped, ‘The first night without parents.’
Tears rolled down…Sudden wake up...
Ring … tring tring... into the ear. Realized its Sunday! time for the call from parents, after 45 days with the timer by my side.

Perceived , the real exposure to the life which appeared wrapped up in a small house , value able friends with benefits and the new chapter… ’Everything you are going through today is preparing you for what you asked for a better tomorrow.’
